Lab Innovations 2024 was a significant event for Clean Air, where we showcased our latest technologies, forged new connections, and celebrated a major sustainability achievement. Here’s a closer look at what made this event so impactful for us.
Clean Air had an extremely productive and enjoyable time at Lab Innovations 2024! The event was a wonderful opportunity to connect with the lab community and engage directly with specifiers, end users, and contractors. We enjoyed showcasing two of our latest advancements: the all-plastic PPX and the light, bright OPTIMAX 4. Both products were met with enthusiasm, and we were thrilled to highlight our innovative use of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) in fume cupboard testing—a pioneering approach that not only eliminates the damaging greenhouse gas SF6 but also enhances containment performance for safer labs.
It was this groundbreaking application of CFD to the design and type-testing of fume cupboards which led to Clean Air winning Lab Innovations’ Best Sustainable Innovation award.
Our Managing Director, Will Perrott, expressed how proud he is of the team behind this breakthrough, stating, “The dedication and expertise of our team have raised the bar, making Clean Air a global leader in the use of CFD for greener, safer fume cupboards.
“It was inspiring to see such a strong field of finalists up for the award, demonstrating how sustainability and decarbonising the supply chain are gaining momentum across the industry. The recognition of the achievement, and of the time, energy, and investment a project such as this requires, gives the whole team a boost.”
Clean Air estimates that by using CFD it is saving over 177 tonnes CO2e per year. “This saving is just at one fume cupboard company. Imagine this multiplied across all our competitors. It’s not just a win for Clean Air, it’s a win for the environment too!
“The lab community is clearly demanding more action, and we’re delighted to help lead the way. Not bad for a Bolton-based company going up against some of the biggest names in the field!”
