22 APEX 2 Fume Cupboards for University of Liverpool
By Will Perrott
Clean Air is fitting 22 of its advanced APEX 2 fume cupboards and a linked extract system at the University of Liverpool. The custom-designed system forms a major part of the state-of-the-art chemistry lab for the prestigious new Regius Chair.
As part of the Queen’s 90th birthday celebrations, the University of Liverpool was awarded a rare and respected Regius Chair. This recognised its leading research in Chemistry. To welcome the Regius Professor and his team, a laboratory and ancillary areas are being completely refurbished.
The APEX 2 fume cupboards for the new lab have been designed to a very exacting specification. 21 of the fume cupboards will be fitted together in groups of three to make super-units with an internal width of up to ~6000 mm.
The 22nd fume cupboard is a 1500 mm wide APEX 2 Accessible (DDA) model with rise and fall working level and services.
The linked extract system has been manufactured from polypropylene due to its corrosion resistant properties.
This exciting new facility is expected to open its doors during autumn 2020.
