More Clean Air fume cupboards for pioneering graphene facility

By Louise Barnes

Another nine advanced specification Clean Air Radius Profile fume cupboards have been ordered for The University of Manchester’s celebrated Graphene Engineering and Innovation Centre (GEIC). The £60m world-leading international research and technology facility already has 26 bench-mounted, 2 walk-in and 10 extra-large walk-in Clean Air fume cupboards in situ.

Clean Air is a specialist fume cupboard and fume extract system designer and manufacturer with over 25 years experience of containment of harmful fumes, dusts and gases. The units achieve excellent Robustness of containment levels, making them fully suitable for research-grade use. Additionally, they are fitted with HEPA filters mounted within safe change housings to capture and prevent nanoparticles from entering the fume extraction system.

Opened in 2018, the GEIC is tasked with accelerating the commercial impact of graphene, developing industry-led applications in partnership with academics. The latest Radius Profile fume cupboards have been optimised to meet the exacting requirements of this pioneering facility and will be dispatched, installed and commissioned in August 2019.
